Army basic course

Laura D. Amschler graduated from the U.S. Army Quartermaster Officer Basic Course at Ft. Lee, Va.

The OBC course prepared newly commissioned officers for their first duty assignments with instruction on methods for training individuals, teams, squads, and platoons.

The Quartermaster Corps is the logistical center point for all Army operations. Quartermaster officers are responsible for making sure equiment, materials, and systems are available and functioning for missions.

Amschler graduated from Avon High School in 2006 and from Eastern Kentucky University in ‘11. Upon graduation, she accepted her commission as an officer in the U.S. Army. She will now move on to her first duty assignment in Heidelberg, Germany, under 7th Army Headquarters.

She is the daughter of James C. and Patricia M. Amschler of Avon.

U.S. Air Force Airman Ryan D. Taylor graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

He completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Tayloris the son of Kelly and Jeff Taylor of Plainfield. He is a 2010 graduate of Ben Davis High School.

U.S. Army National Guard Pvt. Tyler E. Masunas graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, he studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Masunas is the son of Laura Franzosi of Brownsburg and Curt Masunas of Ravenna, Mich. He is a 2011 graduate of Brownsburg High School.

Noonan is the son of Rebecca Shank of Camby. He is a 2011 graduate of Plainfield High School.
