Avon graduate deploys to Iraq

U.S. Army Reserve Pfc. Judith D. Sare is currently deployed to Iraq, serving in support of Operation New Dawn, formerly called Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The New Dawn mission transitions and signifies a formal end to U.S. military combat operations in Iraq, and shifts the emphasis from predominantly military to civilian as the U.S. assists Iraqis in accordance with the Strategic Framework Agreement.

The three primary missions of U.S. forces now include advising, assisting, and training the Iraqi Security Forces; conducting partnered counterterrorism operations; and providing support to provincial reconstruction teams and civilian partners as they help build Iraq’s civil capacity.

Sare is a human resource specialist assigned to the 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command based in Indianapolis. She is a 2007 graduate of Avon High School and is the daughter of Lori A. Myers of Jeannette, Pa., and Robert J. Chambers of Plainfield.
