AVON — Mildred L. Newby of Avon will celebrate her 90th birthday Nov. 8 with a card shower. Mrs. Newby lived in Amo for 90 years and spent winters in Florida for 25 years.
Mrs. Newby served as past president and an officer of the Hendricks County Home Economics Club, and as a past member of the State Home Economics Association and Choir, as well as the choir and book club at Grace United Church in Venice, Fla.
She was also a member of the band’s flag team at Indiana State University.
She has traveled to all 50 states and various countries including, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, and Scotland.
Mrs. Newby is the widow of Maurice E. Newby. She is the mother of Allen Newby and wife Darlene of Clayton and Carolyn Ward and husband and Ron of Brownsburg. She is the grandmother of Bob Ward and wife Lisa, Brian Ward, Michael Newby and wife Jill, Deanna Pugh and husband Otis, and the step-grandmother of Lisa Byers.
She is the great-grandmother of Laura, Jennifer, Katherine and David Ward, Dustin Ward, Jonathan Newby, and Brandon and Toni Pugh. She also has two step-great-grandchildren: Danielle and Dillon Byers.
