Gladys (Nickell) Pritchett is turning 100 on May 6. She is a long-time Hendricks County resident.
She married Melvin Nickell in 1947 and moved to North Salem where she was active in church and community activities, which included helping to start the first textbook rental program for North Salem schools in the early 1950s.
Following the death of her husband in an accident in 1962, Mrs. Pritchett raised their two young daughters and taught full-time until retiring in 1975. She then married Carl Pritchett, widower and family friend. They had several enjoyable travels together until his passing in 1982.
Mrs. Pritchett lives at the Hearth at Prestwick where she serves on her resident council, is an avid bridge player, and enjoys reading.
