Avon woman marks 100th birthday

— Ruby Chambers celebrated her 100th birthday with her family and the many friends she has gathered over the years.

Born March 27, 1912, in Arlington, she was one of five children. One of her siblings is also still surviving.

She is the widow of Walter Chambers. Mr. and Mrs. Chambers are the parents of Betsy Carter of Amo, Phyllis Wolfe of North Las Vegas, Nev., and the late Vivian and Robert.

Mrs. Chambers has 12 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren.

She worked for Wells Faro before retiring. Always looking for ways to help others, she also delivered Meals on Wheels.

Mrs. Chambers enjoyed going on cruises with her daughters Betsy and Phyllis and took her last cruise at the age of 94. She now resides at the Village of Avon.
