Reiber Oct. 13, 2013

Robert James Reiber died Oct. 13, 2013, at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville. He was 84.

Born April 26, 1929, he was a son of the late Omer and Flossie (Graham) Reiber. He married Aletha (Smith) Reiber on Oct. 22, 1949. She died July 18, 1982. He married Kathryn Miller on Dec. 11, 1982. She died June 13, 1989.

Mr. Reiber was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served as a motor pool mechanic in Germany.

He worked as a farm hand during his younger years and then worked at Stark & Wetzel Meat Co. in Indianapolis and later at RCA in Indianapolis where he retired.

Mr. Reiber enjoyed traveling and camping with his niece, Linda Dennis, her late husband, Don Dennis, and their children. He had been in every state except Alaska and Hawaii. He also enjoyed fishing at Raccoon Lake and at the dam in Monticello.

Survivors include step-sons William Eugene (Jill) Miller and David Wayne Miller, both of Lebanon; step-grandchildren Mike (Traci) Miller and David (Vicki) Miller, all of Lebanon, and Joshua (Cherish Batts) Miller and Sabrina (Virgil) O’Bryan, both of Oviedo, Fla.; step great-grandchildren Kayla Miller, Kyle Miller, Veronica, Cole, and Harlow Miller, all of Lebanon, Cody Miller of San Diego, Brandon, Landon and Logan Miller of Thorntown, Haleigh Miller, Darian Hoffman of Lebanon, Brady Malone of Parke County, Lillian Anderson of Greencastle, and Julia O’Bryan of Oviedo, Fla.; a great-great-granddaughter, Lillyan Fortner; a niece, Connie (Ivan) Kouns of Crawfordsville; several other nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceding him in death were a daughter; a sister, Martha (Reiber) Freeland; and a girlfriend, Mary Hollis.

Services are 11 a.m. Oct. 17 at Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, with the Rev. Lee Faust officiating. Gravesides services will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.

Calling is for two hours prior to the service at the mortuary.
