MHS to participate in insurance marketplace

Managed Health Services (MHS) announced on Friday that it has received approval from the Indiana Department of Insurance and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to participate as a Qualified Health Plan issuer in the Indiana Health Insurance Marketplace, where it will offer a line of products branded as Ambetter from MHS.

With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), health insurance marketplaces, or health exchanges, will offer consumers a place to shop, compare, and select an affordable health plan.

Consumers can start shopping during the initial Open Enrollment period that began Oct. 1 and runs through March 31, 2014, and can compare and purchase Ambetter products on the www.ambetterhealth.com website.

“MHS is excited to be participating in Indiana’s health insurance marketplace,” Patrick Rooney, president and CEO of MHS said in a press release. “We have been serving Hoosiers for nearly two decades by offering a large network of skilled healthcare providers who deliver the highest quality and care to our members. Our marketplace product Ambetter will continue our mission of transforming the health of the community, one person at a time, and will be the best choice for affordable healthcare.”

MHS has been providing health care services to Medicaid members in Indiana since 1994. The health plan currently serves more than 200,000 members enrolled in Hoosier Healthwise and the Healthy Indiana Plan programs.

Managed Health Services (MHS) is a managed care entity that has been serving Hoosiers for nearly two decades through the Hoosier Healthwise (HHW) and Healthy Indiana (HIP) Medicaid Programs. MHS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Centene Corporation, a leading, multi-line health care enterprise offering both core Medicaid and specialty services. For more information, contact MHS, located at 1099 N. Meridian St., Suite 400, in Indianapolis at 877-647-4848 or visit the website www.mhsindiana.com.
