The Plainfield Community School Corporation has named Plainfield High School German teacher Susan Ament as its most recent Teacher of the Year.
Ament has been at PHS since she began teaching 23 years ago.
Submitted nominations gave details on Ament’s passion for sharing her love of the German culture and language with her students.
“She is an outstanding educator,” PCSC Superintendent Scott Olinger said. “Susan not only exposes her students to international cultures inside the classroom, but she additionally has led students on eight international trips to German-speaking countries in an effort to widen [her students’] global perspective as well.”
Ament earned a bachelor of arts degree in German, with a minor in Spanish, from the University of Michigan and received a master’s in teaching from Marygrove College.
