Dentistry practice marks silver anniversary

PLAINFIELD — Dr. Rod Eccles and his staff are celebrating the 25th year of his practice in Plainfield. Eccles has been a member of the community for many years.

“I graduated from Plainfield High school in 1978,” Eccles said.

He attended Greenville College in Greenville, Ill., then completed his education at the Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis, graduating in 1985.

“I worked at another practice for about a year or so,” he said. “Then I started looking for office space.”

At the time, a developer was getting ready to build on Stafford Road and Eccles fell in love with the location.

“I wanted to come back to my hometown,” he said. “And I thought it was a great opportunity to be in on the building here at ground level.”

Eccles was able to design the space where he would grow his practice over the next 25 years.

“It’s been a wonderful location,” he said. “Plainfield has done such a good job of controlled growth. And the people here are wonderful.”

The office is situated in a partially wooded area. Eccles makes sure to keep bird feeders full year-round so his patients can watch the birds during their visits.

Since he has been in the same spot for several years now he has seen the area really change — including his patients.

“I’m now seeing different generations of some families,” he said. “Some people I’ve seen their kids and grandkids.”

Rod Eccles DDS Family Dentistry has a staff of seven individuals.

“I think we’ve been successful because we always make sure to treat people as we would want to be treated,” he said. “Our patients become our friends.”

Eccles married his wife, Lori, in 1984, when he was still completing his studies. They have three children. They are members of the Light and Life Free Methodist Church in Avon.
