BROWNSBURG — The Brownsburg Fire Territory is grieving the death of one of its own as David Schanz II lost his battle with cancer on Nov. 10. He was 34 years old.

This is the BFT’s first active duty death and Schanz will receive a firefighter’s funeral. He began his career with the BFT in September of 2006.
Services are noon Wednesday at St. Michael’s, 3354 W. 30th St., Indianapolis. Interment will be at Washington Park North Cemetery, 2702 Kessler Blvd., West Drive, Indianapolis.
Calling at the church is for two hours prior to the service.
The funeral procession will drive past Station 133 in Brownsburg for Schanz’s last call before heading to the cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Make-a-Wish Foundation, 7730 Woodland Dr., Suite 201, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
