Hendricks County Flyer
---- — AVON — Thursday morning, hazardous material cleanup crews were dispatched to the CSX railyard here for the possibility of a chemical spill.
Various news outlets reported that railyard workers smelled what they thought was a chemical spill, but the two hazmat crews on scene found no evidence of an active leak.
Crews were worried because some of the tankers were carrying vinyl chloride, which is is used to make PVC and vinyl products and can cause cancer.
According to Avon-Washington Township Fire Department officials, there was no evacuations and no one was in danger.
CSX took over the investigation and called in its own mitigation team for a physical inspection.
