PLAINFIELD — The Panama City Beach Police Department released information in the death of Zachary Dickman, 13.
Dickman was a resident of Plainfield and was in Panama City Beach with his family for spring break.
The department responded to the Palazzo, 17281 Front Beach Road, in reference to a balcony fall on April 5. The boy was found dead on the scene.
No foul play is suspected but the incident is still under investigation, pending an autopsy from the medical examiner.
Dickman was a seventh grader at Plainfield Community Middle School.
In a statement from the Plainfield Community School Corporation, the administration said, “We are deeply saddened to learn about the death of one of our students, Zachary Dickman, who died while in Florida over spring break. The loss of Zach is a sobering tragedy for our school community.”
Staff and students at PCMS have been informed of the loss and counselors are available to students and staff for assistance in answering questions and coping with their grief.
Dickman was an honor roll student and was active in the PCMS band.
“We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Zach’s family,” the statement continued. “We will provide information about the memorial services and funeral arrangements once available. Thank you for your concern in this difficult time.”
