Hendricks County Senior Services hosts a Vision Loss Support Group at 10:30 a.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the Hendricks County Senior Center. The next meeting will be 10:30 a.m. Nov. 21.
Support group facilitator Deanne Sanders-Below, an in-home service coordinator for Hendricks County Senior Services, facilitates the meetings. The support group may be of benefit to those who have dealt with loss of vision for a period of time as well as those who are just now experiencing the condition.
This month the topic will be on how to make the holiday season brighter for the visually impaired.
“Our mission is to help those who are visually impaired or those caring for someone visually impaired to explore new resources, practice new skills to achieve greater independence, and socialize with others who understand their challenges,” Below said in a press release.
Transportation is available through HCSS by calling 745-4303.
No reservations are required to participate in the support group and membership in the senior center is not required. All meetings are confidential, free of charge, and open to all interested in attending.
Those who would like to stay for lunch are asked to call at least 24 hours in advance. Lunch is a suggested donation of $2 for seniors ages 60 and older.
The Hendricks County Senior Center is at 1201 Sycamore Lane, Danville.
