BPD officer injured after early morning pursuit

BROWNSBURG — According to information from the Brownsburg Police Department, at about 2 a.m. Saturday morning a Brownsburg K-9 officer attempted to pull over a Ford Expedition for traffic stop for a moving violation in the area of Raceway Road and County Road 200 N.

However, the motorist failed to stop and pursuit ensued. The Brownsburg officer could tell the vehicle was being driven by a male, but no other passengers were visible.

The pursuit continued into Marion County and at that time, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and Hendricks County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted.

The chase ended when both the suspect vehicle and the BPD officer’s vehicle hit a ditch in the area of Ameriplex Parkway and Kentucky Ave., both losing control.

The BPD squad car hit a residence located at 6245 S. Kentucky Ave. and the suspect’s vehicle drove through two yards and hit fencing.

No one inside the residence was injured as a result of the crash.

As a result of the crash, the BPD office was injured and not able to witness the suspect exit his vehicle after the collision, which was a few houses away from where the officer’s car was resting.

IMPD officers set a perimeter and utilized K-9 units to track the suspect who had fled on food.

According to the BPD, a scene investigation was conducted using various resources and it was determined that the suspect was Ryan Ogden, 29, of Indianapolis. Officers then discovered that Ogden had his two children, an infant and a toddler, with him during the pursuit.

At about 3:45 a.m. an IMPD helicopter, equipped with heat sensing technology, joined the search and aided in locating Ogden and his children.

The toddler was found alone in a wooded area at about 4:30 a.m.

Ogden was located at about 6 a.m. after going to a residence in the 7800 block of Kentucky Ave. and asking for help.
