Local student earns scholarship
Emma Leep of North Salem is the recipient of a $2,000 Brothers Scholarship, renewable for three years, from The Heritage Group Scholarship Fund.
The Brothers scholarship recipients are chosen by Scholarship America based on a student’s financial need, academic records, personal achievements, and if the have a parent employed by The Heritage Group.
Former Avon resident earns PhD
Scott Van Dyke, formerly of Avon, received a PhD in biomedical engineering from Purdue University. He graduated from Covenant Christian High School in 2004, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Cedarville University in 2008. The PhD was earned on Aug. 3.
IU honors local students
Indiana University College of Arts and Sciences has announced the dean’s list for the spring semester of 2013. Alyssa Griffey has been named to the list for outstanding academic achievement.
To earn dean’s list status at IU, students must have completed at least 12 credit hours in a single semester, earning at least a 3.7 grade point average.
