September is the best time of year for Avon residents who celebrate community.
Avon Community Heritage Festival Week kicks off with Celebrating Avon Day on Sept. 21. The Avon-Washington Township Public Library hosts this day-long event that celebrates Avon heritage and ends with a free concert at Town Hall Park.
Celebrating Avon Day at the library runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature Heritage craftsmen, Billy Yank, the annual bucket truck candy drop, Hoosier Petting Farm, and more.
The day’s events conclude with a free concert in Town Hall Park. This free event will feature
Indiana recording artist Scott Greeson and the Trouble with Monday Band. They play alternative country, bluegrass, folk, and acoustic music. They are a family-friendly band that entertains all ages.
The evening is planned to be fun for the whole family and will feature a free bounce house. Donatos Pizza will be on hand to provide food and beverages for purchase. Sweet Treats will be there to give out 100 free ice cream treats. This locally-owned business specializes in cupcakes, cheesecakes, and hand-dipped ice cream. They will have a variety of sweet treats available for purchase.
The concert begins 6 p.m. on the back porch of Avon Town Hall. Attendees should bring their own seating. Rain location is at the Avon Middle School South auditorium.
