KCCC to host interactive fundraising dinner

AVON — Kingsway Community Care Center (KCCC) will be hosting a interactive fundraiser dinner at 6 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds Conference Center in Danville.

The event, called “Care to Eat?,” features an indoor parade in which the tabletops are the floats.

“This dinner is definitely different from other fundraisers,” KCCC Executive Director John Mollaun said in a press release. “It’s like watching an indoor parade, but all the floats are standing still.”

What makes the event unique is that the participants bring both the decorations and food, with all the proceeds going to benefit the KCCC.

“The creativity and simplicity are what make this event so unique — and cost effective — for the Care Center, which depends on donations from the community,”Mollaun said.

Each table of six or eight decides its own theme and menu and competes to be the most original, the most beautiful, or the funniest themed table at “Care to Eat?”

Tables can also decide to not dress up.

This year there will be a People’s Choice Award for the evening’s favorite table.

American Health Network is a partner for the event, which makes this the second year the organization sponsored the event.

KCCC is the only privately funded medical clinic in Hendricks County for individuals and families without health insurance, and the only dental clinic of its kind between Indianapolis and Terre Haute.

Patients are being seen from Hendricks, Morgan, Putnam, and Boone counties.

The KCCC is at 107 Park Place Boulevard, Avon.

It was named a “Business Making a Difference in Hendricks County” in February, 2007 by the Hendricks County Commissioners.

A key volunteer, Naomi Mynatt, was the recipient of the Governor’s Award for Volunteer Service in March 2008. Three paid staff members coordinate the efforts of nearly 150 volunteers to serve uninsured individuals and families with quality medical and dental care.

KCCC is a 501(c)(3) organization and a separate entity from Kingsway Christian Church. Patients pay a nominal fee for service however, patient revenue contributes about 6 percent of the $200,000 revenue needed for operations. The balance comes from individuals, businesses, foundations, churches and events such as “Care to Eat?”
