---- — Laurel T. Setser, director of the Avon-Washington Township Public Library, has been appointed by Gov. Mike Pence to serve a four-year term on the Indiana Library and Historical Board.
The board is the governing body for the Indiana Library and Historical Department and consists of five members. The representative from the library community is nominated by the Indiana Library Federation (ILF) and receives final approval from the governor’s office.
Setser said she is pleased to serve on this board and represent the interests of the Indiana library community.
She has been with the Avon-Washington Township Public Library for nearly 25 years and its director for 20 years.
She has served on a number of statewide library committees, including the ILF Legislative Committee. In that capacity she has testified a number of times before state legislative committees regarding bills of interest to the libraries of Indiana.
She received a master of library science degree from Indiana University.
Setser is a lifelong resident of Hendricks County and a graduate of Cascade High School. She did her undergraduate work at Western State College of Colorado.
In his appointment letter, Pence thanked Setser for her willingness to devote her time and talent for the benefit of the citizens of Indiana.
