Avon authorities find missing boy

AVON — Authorities in Avon searched for about an hour and a half Wednesday before finding a 10 year old boy who went missing from the area of U.S. 36 and Dan Jones Road.

The boy had last been seen around 2:15 p.m. at ABC 123 Preschool.

With dropping temperatures and spitting snow, Avon Police and Fire reacted quickly, setting up a temporary command center in the parking lot of the Hendricks County Flyer and asking the Flyer staff to spread the word on social media that they were searching for a boy wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a yellow back pack.

The boy’s mother and younger siblings took shelter in the Flyer’s conference room until authorities found the boy at about 3:35 p.m. near JoAnn Fabrics on U.S. 36.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
