The Hendricks County Young Republicans will welcome all of the Republican candidates for Indiana State Treasurer at 6:30 p.m. May 21 at the Prestwick Country Club, 5197 Fairway Drive, Avon.
The location is a change from the YRs usual meeting place at the Buffalo Wild Wings. Heavy attendance at recent events has caused the chapter to opt for a larger venue.
Candidates Don Bates, Kelly Mitchell and Wayne Seybold are seeking the Republican nomination for state treasurer in a race that will be decided at the state Republican convention on June 7.
Following the convention, one will advance to the general election ballot in November. The three statewide candidates will address the group to introduce themselves to those in attendance and present their visions for the office.
“This is an important high-profile race that will be decided in just a few weeks,” Ethan Lawson, Hendricks County Young Republicans chairman, said. “It’s a unique opportunity to meet and hear from our treasurer candidates, and we appreciate all three of them making time in their busy campaign schedules to join us. Bring a friend and come be part of the fun.”
A large turnout is expected for the event, sponsored by both the Hendricks County Young Republicans and the Hendricks County Republican Party, with many general election candidates and delegates likely to be in attendance following their recent primary election victories.
The YRs have hosted Republican sheriff, judicial, commissioner, and council candidates at previous meetings this year and plan to continue bringing in elected officials and candidates to their upcoming meetings.
The group’s monthly events are free and open to all ages. Non-alcoholic drinks and appetizers are provided.
