AVON — Throughout the month of May and early June, Ameriana Bank is sponsoring the Hendricks County Humane Society on its “giving wall.”
The community is encouraged to donate food, paper towels, rubbing alcohol and Q-tips — all items needed on a regular basis at the Humane Society.
Humane Society president Merrily Nilles said, “We have a generous community donating food bins, supplies, and pet food. We recognize that the Pet Food Pantry would not be possible if it were not for the support of the entire community.”
The Pet Food Pantry is open to pet owners who need assistance feeding their pets. Pantry Chair Michele Dunlavey added, “The most encouraging part of this program is when recipients tell us that they don’t need pet food anymore.”
Ameriana has sponsored a variety of non-profit organizations, including Susie’s Place, holiday toy drives and most recently, an Avon prom dress drive.
Used prom or wedding dresses were donated to the high school for the third-annual Girls’ Prom Essentials Sale, benefiting Sheltering Wings.
The bank has the opportunity to make connections with people in Hendricks County and many organizations on the “giving wall” participate by raising awareness.
“We are a community bank and this is a great opportunity to give back,” Brandon Jewell of Ameriana said.
Ameriana also participates in a pay-it-forward program. Three non-profit charities are selected each quarter. When customers open a new account, Ameriana donates $25 to one of the three sponsored charities.
