Paint and Sip classes will help raise funds for the Hendricks County Art Council during two special sessions May 1 and 3.
Gallery on the Square now hosts Paint and Sip parties at its home in Danville, next to the Royal Theater on the square.
In May, Paint and Sip is helping to kick off the Mayberry Festival by offering two special painting parties that feature “Opie.”
Each artist will receive an outline of “Opie” as well as an outline of Sherriff Taylor’s badge to trace on their canvas.
At Paint and Sip, participants will find people with various levels of experience and talent — some who have never painted and some who are fairly competent, but all having fun connecting with their inner artsy side.
The two “Opie” sessions will run from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. May 1 and from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. May 3 at the Gallery on the Square.
At each session, local artist Flory Phillips will paint along with participants and give step-by-step instructions to recreate the painting.
Sessions last between two and a half to three hours and cost $35. The cost covers all supplies, which includes a 16x20-inch canvass, easel, paints, brushes, and apron.
