— What is free, free-wheeling, and fun? It is ArtsGo! Participants can explore the arts and artists of Hendricks County; listen to the music, enjoy the food, try a local brew or wine; and have an all-around great time.

The annual event begins at 10 a.m. April 27 when participants may travel to Brownsburg, Avon, Plainfield, Danville, and (close to) Clayton to see artwork, talk to the artists, and find out how their work is created. Most sites will close at 5 p.m. except the Town Hall location in Avon which will host the music venues as well as artists. The music will begin at 4 p.m. with crooner Chad Brown, and continue with Runaway Moon, a group of Hendricks County teens who are building a great reputation, and who have been asked to return for Nashville, Tennessee’s Fan Fair, one of country music’s biggest events. The ever popular Punkin Holler Boys! will close out the evening, and say they will play until the crowd goes home. To keep the crowds around, there will be food vendors as well as Hendricks County, or nearby, wine and beer.

Participants are asked to bring a lawn chair, enjoy the afternoon, and stay until the sun goes down and the moon comes up. Those attending will see artists demonstrating the “how to” of their craft, and be able to have a ‘hands on’ experience in some locations.

This is a day for the family: the children will love the instrument petting zoo at the Plainfield Library while mom and dad enjoy talking to the artists there and viewing their work. Each location will have art and activities to interest all ages and tastes. Sponsored by the Hendricks County Arts Council, this will be the 8th year for this event.

Maps and programs will at each location, so pick up one at your first stop, and head out from there. The sites include: Avon: Town Hall and Park on U.S. 36, Rockville Road; also, Sketch Pad Art Studio; Brownsburg: Brownsburg Public Library, Artistic Design Gallery, Finer Things, and Frazee Gardens; Clayton: Hot Blown Glass, Ltd., 3717 S County Rd 200 E. (this is easiest to find from Cartersburg Road); Danville: Gallery on the Square; Plainfield: Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library and Nomad Yarns.
