Town council approves street closures for upcoming festivals


DANVILLE — The town council here approved street closures for town streets during upcoming festivals, while also tabling a decision for what company would handle the service contract for the Danville Town Hall HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system, which includes the hot water system.

The Downtown Danville Partnership requested the following dates and street closures:

* For the Summer Sounds on the Square concert series June 15,

July 20, Aug. 17, and Sept. 21, the organization requested a closure

of Marion Street from noon to midnight on each concert date;

* For Family Game Fest June 22 or Aug. 10., it was requested that

Washington Street close from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.;

* For the Scarecrow Festival on Oct. 5, it was requested that Marion

Street close from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and

* For Christmas on the Square on Nov. 29, it was requested that Washington and Marion streets close from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Tri-Kappa and the Danville Parks Department are teaming up for the Fair on the Square and Hendricks County Half Marathon. Tri-Kappa requested that South Jefferson Street, from U.S. 36 to West Broadway Street, Marion Street from South Cross Street to South Indiana Street, and South Washington Street from Marion Street to U.S. 36 all close for the Fair on the Square from 5 p.m. Sept. 13 to 5 p.m. Sept. 15.

In addition, the Danville Parks Department requested that S. Washington Street close from Broadway Street to Marion Street from 5 p.m. Sept. 13 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 14.

A representative with the Geranium Festival requested use of the inside parking lane of Marion and Washington streets from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 11.

The Farmers’ Market requested the closure of South Jefferson Street from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday from May 11 to Sept. 21.

All requests for street closures were approved.

Meanwhile, the decision on whether to award a contract for the service of Danville Town Hall’s HVAC system to Heat & Cool LLC, 72 W. Main St., Danville, or Perfection Group Inc., 4299 W. 96th St.,

Indianapolis, was tabled until a later date. The council noted that the decision will most likely be made at its March 18 meeting.

The Danville Town Council meets at 7 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at the Danville Town Hall.
