The Indiana Civil Rights Commission (ICRC), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana (FHCCI), the Back Home in Indiana Alliance (Back Home), accessABILITY, and the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) hope to bring greater awareness and understanding regarding the rights and responsibilities under the Fair Housing Act with a conference titled “Equal Housing is STILL the Issue” on April 18 in Indianapolis.
The free conference will offer attorneys, the community, educational experts, housing providers, and service providers an opportunity to share best practices on bringing an end to discrimination statewide.
CLE and CEU credits will be available for those eligible.
“To celebrate Fair Housing Month this April, the ICRC and its partners wanted to provide a forum for information sharing and community action,” said Jamal L. Smith, executive director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission. “We hope this conference acts as a catalyst for change in Indiana communities throughout the state.”
The conference also includes the Chicago Freedom Movement Photography Exhibit assembled by Bernard J. Kleina, who is the former executive director of HOPE Fair Housing in Wheaton, Ill.
