Avon Outdoor Learning Center to hold benefit concert

CNHI

— The Avon Outdoor Learning, located behind Maple Elementary School in Avon, will have a benefit concert May 18 to raise funds for its continued operation.

The OLC has been active since 1985, supported by funding from the Avon Community School Corporation, letting students explore and understand nature in an educational environment. Due to budget constraints, the school corporation will no longer fund the OLC after this year.

The concert, set for 4 to 10 p.m., will feature a headline performance by Michael Kelsey, who was named the best unsigned guitarist out of 3,000 entrants to Guitar Center’s “Guitarmageddon” competition. He has shared a stage with such legends as Eric Clapton, B.B. King, and Santana.

Local bands and solo artists will also perform, including the Breaks, Andrew Gaddie, Andrew Stewart, Young Swavey, the Chicagoats, and the Avon Drumline.

Admission is $5 and donations will be accepted. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.

For more information, contact Jennifer Davies by e-mailing to OLC@avon-schools.org or by calling 544-6400.
