DANVILLE — The two former Carmel High School (CHS) basketball players charged for their involvement in an attack on a fellow player both have plea hearings set in Hendricks County.
Hendricks County Prosecutor Patricia Baldwin filed class B misdemeanor battery charges against Robert Kitzinger and Brandon Hoge last week for their actions against a freshman basketball player on a team school bus in January. Baldwin filed charges after a lengthy investigation determined the incident occurred in Hendricks County in the area of State Road 37 on Interstate 70.
Kitzinger was scheduled to have his initial hearing on Dec. 30. Instead, a plea hearing has been set for Feb. 15. Hoge, no longer facing charges in Hamilton County, has a plea hearing set for Jan. 5. If no plea agreement is reached, a trial date will be set.
Kitzinger and two other former students involved in the case and charged in Hamilton County have pleaded guilty to one count each of criminal recklessness relating to locker room incidents at CHS. They were each sentenced to one year's probation, 40 hours of community service, and a suspended 178-day jail sentence.
Baldwin did not return phone calls seeking comment at press time.
