Myers Dinner Theatre set to present holiday extravaganza

Revolution Productions at Myers Dinner Theatre announces the next show in its 2013 season, “Home for the Holidays,” opening Nov. 13.

This holiday musical runs through Dec. 22 at the theatre, 108 Water St., Hillsboro. Performances are primarily on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons, and Friday and Saturday nights, but additional performances may be available. Call (765) 798-4902, ext. 2 for specific dates and times.

The Holiday family has guest starred on television shows for years, but their popularity has been dropping as of late. Bob Holiday, after promising his family a quiet family Christmas, gets the idea to star in his own live Christmas special from his old friend and producer, Sam. The family is shocked at the news and is hesitant, but go on with the television special. As their oldest says, “What could go wrong?”

In the middle of taping, the family gets a visit from Bob’s ex-wife, singing sensation Linda Lane, and her niece, a graduate law student, with some very unsettling news about the family. Can Bob get through a live Christmas special while keeping his family together, and maybe learn a little lesson on humility? This is a Christmas story about the dangers of vanity, the sacrifice of father and motherhood, and altogether, the importance of family and friendship.

The cast includes Michael Moyer (Indianapolis) as Bob Holiday, Mary Keller (Crawfordsville) and Miriam Rich (Crawfordsville) as his wife Stacey Holiday. The children, Jake, Holly, and Haley are played by Preston Dildine (Mace), Abigail Estes (Hillsboro), and Alex Hughes (Crawfordsville), respectively. Bob’s mother Lorraine is played by MDT owner Donna Myers (Waynetown), and her batty father Franklin is played by Bill Rubenstein (Waynetown). Sam, the television producer is played by Mahlon Nevitt (Crawfordsville). Linda Lane, the singing sensation, will be played by Ginny Spillman (Indianapolis), and her niece Bernice is played by Katie Schneider (Lafayette). The show is directed by Preston Dildine (Mace). Musical direction is by Connie Meek (Crawfordsville).

Weekday and Saturday matinees begin with dinner at noon and show at 1:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday evening performances have dinner at 6:30 p.m. and show at 8. Sunday matinees feature dinner at 1 p.m. and show at 2:30.

The cost for dinner and show is $42 (tax included); students with valid school ID are $30. The dinner buffet includes Richard Myers’ prime rib. Group prices are available. Show-only tickets are also available for $20.
