Hendricks County Flyer

---- — The Plainfield Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate Halloween on Oct. 26 with its “Sat-Terror-Day” event for children and a new “Howl-a-Ween” costume contest for dogs at the Bark Park.

The annual “Sat-Terror-Day” event will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Recreation and Aquatic Center, 651 Vestal Road. Pumpkin bowling, face painting, pumpkin decorating (while supplies last) and, of course, eating Halloween candy and snacks will be some of the activities taking place.

Big Bounce Fun House Rentals will be there with one of its bounce houses. Hay rides will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., leaving from the main entrance.

Radio Disney will be part of the fun as well, being at the Recreation Center starting at 11:30 a.m. with music, games, contests, and dancing. All activities at “Sat-Terror-Day” are free and membership in the Plainfield Recreation and Aquatic Center is not required to participate.

The inaugural “Howl-a-Ween” costume contest for dogs will be presented by the Plainfield Bark Park and is sponsored by the Animal Clinic of Plainfield and Katie’s Dog Grooming. The entry fee is $3 with proceeds going to support the Humane Society of Hendricks County’s HOPE project.

The event will run from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Bark Park, 1007 Longfellow Drive, on the southeast side of Swinford Park. The contest starts at 2:30 p.m.

First- and second-place prizes will be awarded.

Participants must be current members of the Bark Park and show membership cards. Non-members may participate if they produce valid vaccination records for their dogs (the paper certificate is required; a tag will not be accepted).

Questions about either event may be directed to the Parks Department by calling 839-7665.

The official date for Halloween “trick or treating” within the Town of Plainfield is from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 31.
