A Plainfield Correctional Facility Officer was arrested Friday morning. Correctional Officer James Thomas was arrested for Trafficking, a Class C felony and Dealing in Marijuana, a Class D felony.
According to a statement from the facility, as part of an internal affairs investigation, Thomas was escorted to the facility’s Internal Affairs Department upon reporting for work where he was interviewed and his property was searched. The facility’s Correctional Police Officers Frank Vanihel and Richard Gaskin found approximately 69 grams of marijuana and 193 grams of tobacco hidden inside a bowl of frozen food. The officer was then transported to Hendricks County Jail for processing and placed on emergency suspension without pay. Thomas was hired at the facility in March 2012.
