Juvenile injured in shooting

PLAINFIELD —

Detectives from the Plainfield Police Department made an arrest in the Wednesday night shooting Saratoga Crossing Apartments.

Capt. Jill Lees, public information officer for the department, said the investigation is ongoing.

“The call came in at approximately 7:51 p.m.,” Lees said. “It was a report of shots fired.”

Officers responded to the 4200 block of Wolcott Circle in Plainfield.

“When officers responded to the scene, they found that everyone had left,” Lees said. “They arrived to find the apartment vacant and unsecured.”

Detectives told Lees that it was obvious that an incident had occurred in the apartment and officers set up a perimeter.

“Witnesses at the scene advised officers that prior to their arrival several people got into a dark car and left the area,” Lees said.

Officers patrolling the area were able to locate the vehicle and detained everyone for questioning at the police department.

“Meanwhile, the officers had alerted area hospitals that a gunshot wound may be brought in,” Lees said. “Hendricks Regional Health advised officers that they did have a gunshot wound come into the emergency room.”

Lees said the gunshot victim is a juvenile and, therefore, the department will not release his name. The victim was flown to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and is listed in stable condition.

“The incident is still under investigation,” Lees said. “However, one of the male subjects was taken to the Hendricks County Jail in connection with the shooting.”

Josiah Lawson, 19, was booked into the Hendricks County Jail in Danville.

“Detectives are still investigating the situation and trying to get everyone involved identified,” Lees said. “I will be checking in with the detectives daily.”
