Misty Eyes to host Winterfest

— Misty Eyes Animal Shelter & Learning Center will host "Winterfest" from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Feb. 22 at Avon Intermediate School East.

The event will include a scavenger maze; photos with Spot, the shelter's 6-foot dog; games with prizes; food; entertainment; and a photo and essay contest.

The event will also offer a presentation called "Careers with Animals." This presentation will feature a local veterinarian, vet tech, groomer, kennel owner, and dog sitter. Each will share information about their career field. The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

There will also be a special presentation by Dr. Matt Cantrell, who will present what happens from the time an animal comes into Misty Eyes until they are adopted.

Misty Eyes is now accepting entries for the photo and essay contest. This contest is open to all students in grades one through 12. For more information, visit the website at MistyEyes.org.

The winners will be announced at "Winterfest" and the winning photo and essay will be displayed at the Misty Eyes Adoption Center.

Admission to "Winterfest" is free, but donations will be accepted.

Misty Eyes Animal Shelter & Learning Center is currently raising funds to build Hendricks County's only no-kill shelter and learning center.
