Fall tax payments due Nov. 12

Hendricks County Treasurer Nancy Marsh reminds residents that reporting for their Fall “B” tax installment is due Nov. 12, due to the Veteran’s Day Holiday.

To save tax dollars, both the Spring “A” and Fall “B” coupons were mailed in the same envelope. Property owners will not receive a new Fall “B” coupon in the mail.

Those who have not yet paid their Spring “A” installments of the 2012-13 property taxes are now delinquent and penalties will now be applied.

Marsh said there is often confusion when a property is sold about who is responsible for the property taxes. This is an agreement made by the buyer and seller and the county treasurer is not a party to it and has no knowledge of the agreement.

Anyone with questions about their taxes may call Marsh’s office at 745-9220 or e-mail to treasurerdept@co.hendricks.in.us.

Operating hours for conducting business in the treasurer’s office are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The office will have extended hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on deadline day, Nov. 12.

Payment may also be made at the following Hendricks County banks: BMO Harris, First Merchants Bank, First National Bank, Hendricks County Bank and Trust, Huntington Bank, North Salem State Bank and State Bank of Lizton.

Payments are not posted until they are received by the Hendricks County Treasurer. Taxpayers must present their “B” copy at the bank, along with their payment. The bank is unable to accept delinquent “A” portions of the statement or any prior years’ taxes.

If mailing a tax payment, remember that it is considered on time if postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on or before Nov. 12. Payments should be mailed to the Hendricks County Treasurer, P.O. Box 2027, Indianapolis IN 46206-2027.

If there is any question about whether a payment will have a timely postmark, taxpayers are encourage to obtain a certificate of mailing from the post office.

There are also several new electronic payment options available. Visit the website at www.co.hendricks.in.us for details. Third party provider fees apply.

There is a night deposit box on the south side of the Government Center in Danville by the south entrance doors. Payments may be deposited into that box at any time prior to midnight on Nov. 12.
