---- — Avon-Washington Township Public Library

— Pokémon League meets at 2 p.m. today and Oct. 19. Join the Pokémon Trading Card Game League that meets at 2 p.m. on the first and third Saturdays of each month. The Pokémon League provides a nearby place for Pokémon enthusiasts to get together with other fans of both the Pokémon Trading Card Game and the Pokémon video games, and have some fun. Those who attend can use their own cards and Pokémon DS games, to play, trade, and there are even opportunities to earn cool prizes. Players who don’t know all the rules of the game can learn game basics and, in no time, perfect a strategy. Joining a league is the best way to hone skills to compete in Pokémon tournaments from Battle Roads all the way up to the World Championships.

— Chess Night will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 and 22. The group is for all ages and no registration is required. Chess boards and snacks are provided.

Brownsburg Public Library

— Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: Interactive Movie will take place at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 10 in Meeting Room B.

Join the library for this fun family program where those who attend will watch and interact with the first Harry Potter movie. Attendees will receive items for and instructions on when to interact along with specific scenes. Snacks will be provided, but feel free to bring a dinner. Registration required for each family member that will participate. All ages are welcome.

— Round Table Readers will take place at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in Meeting Room C.

The book Bone Garden by Tess Gerritsen will be discussed. Copies are available at the front desk for check out.

— The Clayton Public Library has launched an e-newsletter and Facebook page to keep the community informed of library activities and news. Coatesville-Clay Township Public Library

— Local authors Gail Sharp and Phyllis Parsons will visit the library from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. today to share their experiences in researching, writing, and publishing the book Hendricks County.

— McCloud Nature Park will present a nature program on the first Wednesday of each month.

— Story Time will take place at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. every Tuesday for preschooler children age 3 to 6.

— Page Turners will take place at 5 p.m. every Tuesday.

— Little Listeners will take place at 1 p.m. every Thursday.

— Mystery Mania will take place at 5 p.m. Oct. 17. In the spirit of Halloween, the library will have a night of “Whodunit?” mysteries and look and find games. Be sure to wear a Halloween costume for a night full of detective work.

Danville Public Library

— Friends Jam is 6 to 8:30 p.m. each Thursday at the Train Station in Ellis Park. Friends Jam is a collection of local musicians who perform, primarily using acoustic instruments. They play and sing a variety of music. Donations received go to Friends of the Library and Friends of the Park.

— DPL Dot Day will take place Oct. 15 at the library. All ages are welcome and no registration is required. It is inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot. International Dot Day encourages people all over the world to try something new, be brave, and make their mark. There will be crafts to make and take and crafts to leave to decorate the library. Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library

— Three Pints & Black Swan Brewpub Beer Tasting Fundraiser, will take place from 1 to 2:30 p.m. today at the library. Join the library for an afternoon of beer tasting and learning about local microbreweries. Sample a variety of 10 beers from Three Pints Brewpub and Black Swan Brewpub along with some snacks. A $5 fee will be accepted at the door. All proceeds go toward funding other library programs like this one.

— Build-a-Mania will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. today. Let imaginations runs wild and show off creativity by using Legos to build alone or work with a friend. Registration is not required.

— In the Gallery will take place all day on Oct. 6. October features “Faces” with photography by Dale and Michelle Hanke, works by Plainfield student photographer Mallory Adair, and local photographer Brian Scatterday. Decorated pumpkins by participants of the Plainfield Farmers’ Market will be on display along with children’s works created in the ARTZONE.
