Plainfield Masonic Lodge No. 653 recently hosted an open house, following the Quaker Day Parade in Plainfield, in which more than 40 of members participated.
More than 100 guests toured the facility and were able to “Learn What Freemasonry Has To Offer,” which was the theme of the open house, by speaking to members of Plainfield lodge’s masonic family: The Freemasons, a men’s fraternity; the Order of Eastern Star, a fraternity for both women and men; the JOBS Daughters, a young women’s sorority; and the DeMolay, a young men’s fraternity.
Several exhibits from the Masonic Library and Museum were on display in what was that facility’s first ever showing outside its own walls.
The museum’s curator, Past Grand Master Micheal Brumback, was on hand to share the history of the exhibits and answer questions.
The lodge also gave away several door prizes. First prize was an iPad Mini, which was awarded to Brandon O’Brien by Worshipful Master Lee Owens.
For more information on the lodge, visit the website at www.tryfreemasonry.com or come by the lodge at 107 S. Center St. at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, or the second Saturday of each month to enjoy the community breakfast.
A lodge calendar is posted on the front door.
