As Dick Vitale once said, “It’s flat out scary, baby.” March Madness is upon us.
I’ve never really gotten the whole March Madness thing, but I have to tell you, this year it’s really getting to me. It seems like I’m mad all the time this March; although some would argue I’ve been completely mad for a very long time.
Like today; we’re a full week into spring and it snowed today. It flipping snowed. I have on three pair of socks, my finger nails are blue and it’s spring. Haven’t we had enough? It’s bad enough we’ve all been freezing, scraping windows and shoveling snow since early fall. Now it’s spring and we’re still dealing with it. I have to tell you; I’m pretty mad about it.
What’s worse than all the cold and snow? People complaining about all the cold and snow. And yes, I am seeing the irony here. I am one of those people complaining about the cold and snow, yet the people complaining about the cold and snow are getting on my nerves.
I chuckled good-naturedly earlier this year when people would say, “Is it cold enough for you?” but now I don’t. Now I simply stare them down until they slink out of my office. And if I hear, “I’m so over it!” one more time I’m likely to push someone down in the freshly fallen snow, just to make sure they are really, truly over it.
Worse than those who hate the snow and cold are those who love winter. Undoubtedly, these are the people who don’t have to be anywhere. Every time it snows, they are the ones who are exclaiming delightedly, “Oh look! It’s snowing! Isn’t it just so puuuurrrdddy?”
