---- — This year marks a half-century that the Indiana Chamber of Commerce has provided impactful programming for human resource professionals through its annual HR event. That tradition continues April 28-30 with the 50th annual HR Conference & Expo at the Indianapolis Marriott East.
The focus of the 2014 conference — presented by Frost Brown Todd LLC — is the current state of HR and where the field is headed, with an emphasis on employee recruitment and engagement, pay trends, and recent actions from the National Labor Relations Board. There will also be information related to health care reform, which has made one of the broadest impacts on the human resources field in many years.
Conference attendees can choose from five educational tracks and can tailor the curriculum to best meet their needs. The tracks are strategic business management, benefits/compensation, HR technology, leadership and engagement, and regulatory compliance.
Pre-conference workshops will be April 28 and will include case law updates on human resources and employment law; how to become a financial business consultant for your organization; practical techniques for improving performance and leadership behavior; and an employment law boot camp.
The event will feature two keynote presentations. On April 29, a team of attorneys from Frost Brown Todd will put on a performance celebrating the 50th year of the conference and demonstrate how HR has changed in 50 years. Julius E. Rhodes, SPHR, founder and principal of mpr group in Chicago, will close the conference April 30 with a session on how to create and sustain a culture of excellence.
A roundtable luncheon on April 29 will give attendees the opportunity to consult with Frost Brown Todd attorneys on any HR-related questions.
The Ogletree Deakins 2014 Human Resources Professional of the Year award will be presented during a luncheon on April 30.
Cost per person for the full conference, including pre-conference workshops (April 28-30), is $279 for Indiana Chamber members and $329 for non-members. Cost for April 29-30 is $199 for members and $249 for non-members. Group discounts are available by visiting the website at www.indianahrconf.com.
