Roy D. Waddell of Danville died Monday at the age of 75.
Born June 14, 1938, in Rockport, he was a son of Raymond and Mabel Tharp Waddell. He married Kay Lueking and they were together for more than 50 years before her death in 2011.
Mr. Waddell served in the U.S. Army, was a member of the Indiana State Police force for more than 21 years, and was sheriff of Hendricks County for 16 years.
He was also invited to and completed the FBI Academy Training.
His memberships included the Indiana Sheriff’s Association, Danville Christian Church and Prestwick Country Club.
Survivors include sons Michael Waddell, and Chad Waddell and wife Kristi; a brother, Ronnie Waddell; a sister, Marianne Stateler; grandsons Connor, Carson and Michael Jr.; and a granddaughter, Adrianne.
Services are 3 p.m. Saturday at the Danville Christian Church with calling there from noon until 2:30 p.m.
