Brides to Be Expo returns for eighth year

PLAINFIELD — Planning a wedding can be a stressful time, but the eighth annual Brides to Be Expo offered brides and grooms plenty of assistance.

This year’s event ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Palms Banquet and Conference Center in Plainfield. The event is put on by the Hendricks County Flyer and Visit Hendricks County.

The expo is a free “one-stop shop” for all the wedding planning information prospective brides and grooms need, with more than 20 vendors from Hendricks County and surrounding communities participating.

There were opportunities to win door prizes and get plenty of free advice, along with a chance to book photographers, cake designers, jewelers, caterers, musicians, venues, and more.

David’s Bridal provided a strolling fashion show so couples could see the latest styles. This year the models were Allison Atkins of Martinsville, Lexy Hunt of Greenfield, Leanza MacGregor of Roachdale, and Lauren Shive of Indianapolis.

Chateau Thomas Winery at 6291 Cambridge Way, Plainfield, was among the venues and catering services at the event.

Kathy Baker, event coordinator for the winery, said the Vineyard Room is a popular choice.

“I have two banquet facilities that I can make into one great, grand facility and accommodate up to 200 people,” Baker said. “We do a lot of rehearsal dinners on Friday nights.”

She added that the catering service offered is something that sets Chateau Thomas apart.

“We have our own catering department and an onsite chef,” Baker said.

For anyone wanting to try out the food, Baker said they’ll have an opportunity to do just that next month.

“I’m having a spring food tasting on April 3 and it costs $25 per person and reservations are required,” she said.

For more information, call Baker at 203-7845 or visit the website at www.chateauthomas.com.

Another facility and catering option would be the very place the expo is held: the Palms Banquet and Conference Center.
