Resident fire with entrapment on Taft Ave. yesterday

— Wayne Township Fire was called to 69 S. Taft Ave. yesterday for a residence fire with entrapment. Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke pouring from a single story residence. Crews searched the residence and located one male occupant in the hallway of the home and removed him from the home in critical condition. He was transported to Wishard hospital. The fire was under control in 15 min. No other injuries were reported. He was the only person living at the residence. The house suffered smoke damage and fire damage in one room. The smoke alarm in the residence was damaged so severely that investigators could not determine if it had been working or not. As of today the burn victim is still in critical condition. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting Wayne Township Fire Investigators.The fire is still under investigation, there is still no word of the cause.
