Have fun learning to identify common Indiana trees through bark, bud, and branch characteristics on Jan. 11 at McCloud Nature Park.
Park naturalists will meet participants at the Nature Center at 2 p.m. and lead them through a winter wonderland, teaching them that leaves aren’t the only way to identify trees in the winter.
This free family program, designed for all ages, will last about an hour and a half.
Participants should wear boots or sturdy shoes and dress for the weather so they can thoroughly enjoy the hike along the park trails.
McCloud Nature Park is operated by Hendricks County Parks and Recreation and is five minutes south of North Salem at 8518 North Hughes Road. Admission is always free and the park is open from dawn to dusk daily.
The Nature Center’s hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
