— Preschool Storytime at Decatur is 10:30 a.m. today and Feb. 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26. Preschoolers who are accompanied by an adult are invited for stories, fingerplays and crafts, followed by play time.

Eagle Branch

— Family Storytime at Eagle is 4 p.m. Feb. 17 and 24. Families and children of all ages are invited for stories, songs and activities.

— Job Center at the Library runs from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. today and Feb. 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26. In partnership with WorkOne and EmployIndy, the library will present a free service for unemployed or underemployed individuals to receive one-on-one assistance to enhance their employment skills. The session will focus on job search strategies, interviewing skills, resume development, and instruction on basic computer skills.

— Paws to Read at Eagle runs from 4 to 5 p.m. Feb. 17 or from 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 19. School-aged children who are reluctant readers are invited to read to a non-judgmental, registered therapy dog who loves to listen to stories. It’s a great way to improve a child’s reading skills and self-confidence.

— Writing Across the Community is from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Adults and teens are invited to receive one-on-one help with their writing from members of Marian University’s Writing Center. Whether it’s a homework paper, resume, book or anything else, this program is designed to help make one’s writing stand out and get noticed.

— Animal Tales presented by Animalia will be at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 13. Preschoolers ages 3 to 6 who are accompanied by an adult are invited for an animal-themed story time, followed by an animal encounter presented by Animalia. Call 275-4340 to register.

— Computer Tips & Tricks: Open Lab is from 10:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 20. Adults are invited to bring questions or problems relating to using a computer, including applications such as Word or Excel, along with using e-mail or the Internet. One-on-one help will be provided.

Individuals of all ages are invited to learn about the library’s proposed Strategic Plan that will provide a road map for services through 2020. Join Library CEO Jackie Nytes to discuss the library’s vision, goals and priorities to meet community needs. Community feedback is essential to finalize an effective and sustainable plan.

— Preschool Storytime at Pike is 10:15 a.m. Feb. 20 and 27. Preschoolers ages 3 to 5 who are accompanied by an adult are invited for stories, songs and other activities designed to encourage their love for books and reading.

— Teen Game Day is from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Feb. 13, 20 and 27. Teens are invited to enjoy an afternoon of fun with board games, card games and video gaming with friends.

— One Book, Two Cities: Preserving Family Photos - From Daguerreotype to Digital will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today. As part of the One Book, Two Cities shared reading experience with Cologne, Germany, adults are invited to learn about preserving family history through photos. The presenter will be Joan Hostetler of the Indiana Album, a community-submitted digital collection of historic photos from throughout the state. Learn how to date, identify, sort and archive photos, as well as how to organize and back up digital files. Also discussed will be ideal preservation environments and standards for scanning old photos. Attendees are encouraged to bring a few mystery or problem photos for review and sharing.

— Singin’ Time With Miss Bobbie is at 10:15 a.m. Feb. 13. Families with babies and preschoolers up to age 6 are invited to tune up their singing voices and put on their dancing shoes during this musical program with folk singer Bobbie Lancaster.

— Drawing Manga 101 is 3:30 p.m. Feb. 15. Children ages 8 and older are invited to learn the basics of Manga-style drawing and how to incorporate storytelling through the characters’ facial expressions. This program will be led by instructors from Art With a Heart. Call 275-4480 to register.

This memoir writing workshop will be conducted by The Indiana Writers Center.
