For the ninth consecutive year, more than a million visitors passed through the gates at the Indianapolis Zoo in 2013.
The milestone occurred during Christmas at the Zoo presented by Donatos and Teachers Credit Union.
The zoo has recorded more than one million guests every year since 2005, when it reopened its redesigned Dolphin Pavilion to include the nation’s only underwater dolphin viewing dome.
This year, guests flocked to experience the return of butterflies to White River Gardens in Butterfly Kaleidoscope presented by Citizens Energy Group. From March through September, thousands of butterflies filled the Hilbert Conservatory and tens of thousands of guests became immersed in the beauty of this exhibit.
Other 2013 highlights included the ongoing construction of the International Orangutan Center; summer concert series Zoolapalooza presented by Firestone Building Products and Firestone Industrial Products and Animals and All that Jazz presented by Indiana Members Credit Union; Zoopolis 500 presented by the American Dairy Association; and ZooBoo presented by Central Indiana Honda Dealers.
