New assistant principal announced for Plainfield HS

---- — Plainfield Community School Corporation (PCSC) Superintendent Scott Olinger recently announced the hiring of Brent Schwanekamp as the new assistant principal for curriculum and instruction at Plainfield High School.

The PCSC Board of School Trustees approved the recommendation on Dec. 12.

Schwanekamp will be filling the position to be vacated by current assistant principal Marisa Donovan, who will be taking over as principal at Clarks Creek Elementary School beginning with the start of the 2014-15 school year.

“We are proud to be hiring a candidate who has already enriched Plainfield schools so broadly during his tenure here,” Olinger said, in a press release. “We are investing in Mr. Schwanekamp as he has invested in this school and this community.”

After graduating from PHS with academic honors in 1998, Schwanekamp attended Butler University where he graduated cum laude in 2002 with a bachelor of science in secondary education (math). In 2010, he earned a master of science in educational administration while participating as a member of Butler’s Experiential Program for Preparing School Principals (EPPSP).

Schwanekamp began his teaching career at Ben Davis High School in 2002. Making the move to teach at Plainfield High School in 2007. Schwanekamp has also served as a member of the PHS football coaching staff since that time. He has committed over 300 hours participating as part of an administrative internship (both summer and school year) with PHS. He has provided staff development, is a member of several professional organizations, and is a recipient of numerous education honors and awards.
