Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis today announced its 2014 dragstrip schedule. The legendary dragstrip in Brownsburg will hold a variety of events from April through October.
“As NHRA’s flagship facility, we are committed to hosting an ambitious schedule of events with a wide ranging appeal to racers and race fans of all types,” said Lucas Oil Raceway general manager, Randy Simpson, in a press release. “Our 2014 dragstrip schedule strikes a balance between weekly drag racing programs for our local racers as well as numerous fan favorite special events that continue to solidify Lucas Oil Raceway as a premier destination facility.”
Lucas Oil Raceway’s marquee event is the world’s biggest and most prestigious drag race, the 60th Annual Chevrolet Performance US Nationals, Labor Day weekend Aug. 27 – Sept. 1. This milestone anniversary event will feature numerous special attractions in addition to the already supercharged schedule that includes such bonus races as the Traxxas Nitro Shootouts for Top Fuel and Funny Car, the Factory Stock Showdown and Mopar HEMI Challenge.
Opening day at Lucas Oil Raceway features the first of nearly 30 scheduled Wild Wednesday Test & Tune events beginning April 2. Wild Wednesdays offer open time trials for street cars and race cars.
The season long VP Racing Fuels ET Bracket Series begins on Sunday, April 13. Special ET Bracket Series races will include the NHRA National Dragster Challenge (May 4), NHRA Indiana Drag Racing State Championship (Memorial Day, May 26), Summit Junior Drag Racing League Challenge (June 8) and Summit NHRA King of the Track (July 6). The top point earners qualify to represent team Lucas Oil Raceway at the NHRA Summit ET Finals that will be held at Lucas Oil Raceway, September 12-14.
NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series competition kicks-off in the NHRA North Central Division, April 25-27. The annual event features over 600 race cars ranging from 280 mph Top Alcohol and Injected Nitro Dragsters to wheels up Super Stock cars.
