---- — The Hendricks County Extension Office is currently taking registrations for the upcoming Master Gardener Program beginning Jan. 7, 2014.
Classes are from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds & Conference Complex in Danville and will continue until May 27, 2014.
Class participants can learn about plant science, plant nutrition, soil science, vegetables, herbs, lawn care, landscaping, fruit, weeds and pesticides, herbaceous ornamentals, woody ornamentals, native plants and wildflowers, identification and control of insect pests, and identification and control of plant diseases.
No previous gardening experience is required.
The 13 weeks of class time, a binder with Master Gardener materials, and weekly handouts are all included for a registration fee of $115.
Class size is limited to 40 participants.

The original Master Gardener program was created in 1972 in Seattle, Wash., in response to the overwhelming demand for home gardening information. Indiana’s program began in 1978 with four participating counties. There are currently more than 60 Indiana counties with active Master Gardener programs.
