Ed Kempf of Avon died Tuesday. He was 66.
Born March 26, 1947, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Minnie Kempf. He married Sally Wise on Sept. 21, 1974, and she survives.
Mr. Kempf was raised in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and moved to Indiana in the late 1960s. He worked in surgery and respiration therapy at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where he met his wife. In the early 1970s, he became self-employed, specializing in finish grading, landscaping, and concrete.
He was most at home in the outdoors, enjoying fishing and hunting. He was involved in the Boy Scouts with his sons. He enjoyed family gatherings and church dinners where he could grill meat adorned with his own special barbecue sauce.
Additional survivors include children David (Janet), Jerry (Angela), and Kathy; grandchildren Alex, Brent, Jared, Austin, Elizabeth, Matthew, and Michael; and a brother, Earl.
Services are 1 p.m. today at Conkle Funeral Home, Avon Chapel. Interment will be at West Ridge Park Cemetery.
