Seager Feb. 23, 2014

Paula Paulette Wawrzyk Seager of Danville died Feb. 23. She was 73.

Born Aug. 11, 1940, in Homestead, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Chester Victor Wawrzyk and Pauline Agnes Fetsko. She married Elwood J. Seager on Oct. 5, 1963, and he survives.

Mrs. Seager lived in Homestead until she was 9. Her family then moved to upstate New York and settled in Elmbois outside of Hammondsport. She graduated from Franklin Academy in Prattsburg in 1959. She had been a cheerleader during high school. Shortly after graduation she moved to Aurora, Co., and Cheyenne, Wyo., to care for her nephew, Michael Wawrzyk. She returned to Elmbois in 1962, when she met her future husband who was on leave from the U.S. Air Force.

She worked for the Mesa Public Schools as a special education instructor from 1976 to ‘84 while her husband was stationed at William Air Force Base in Chandler, Ariz. In 1984 she went to work at the Maricopa County Bureau of Motor Vehicles until her retirement in 2004. In 2005 she moved with her husband to Danville to be closer to both her grandson and daughter.

Mrs. Seager was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Karen Marie Seager-Everett; a son-in-law, Ray K. Everett; a grandson, Ray Keith Everett III; sisters-in-law Thelma Houghtaling and Dorothy Walker, both of Bath, N.Y.; nieces and nephews, among them Michael A. Wawrzyk of Queen Creek, Ariz., and Brendan P. Case of Lakeside, Ariz.; several Fetsko, Wawrzyk, and Pastor cousins; and beloved friends Charlotte Finley Lavery, and the Clines of Danville.

A private family service is planned.

Arrangements were entrusted to Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory.
