Authors to sign copies of county history book

CNHI

— Authors Phyllis Parsons and Gail Tharp will sign copies of their book Hendricks County from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 27 at the Hendricks County Museum in Danville.

Hendricks County is part of the series "Images of America" by Arcadia Publishing. It features historical photos from throughout the county. The last chapter of the book, titled "Communities Remembered," showcases once-thriving areas such as Gale, Needmore, and Joppa.

Parsons and Tharp met through their volunteering work at the Hendricks County Museum. Parsons has enjoyed researching her family history and assisting her husband, John, who is the county historian. Tharp has written several children's books and three local church histories. This is their first joint project.

Joining them will be Jeff Baldwin, who authored Danville of the same series. Baldwin, Parsons, and Tharp currently serve on the board of directors at the museum, which is at 170 S. Washington St., Danville.

Books will be on sale at the Hendricks County Museum, in the Indiana Room of the Danville Public Library, at local businesses throughout the county, and at Barnes and Noble bookstores.

Proceeds from the book sales will go toward the Hendricks County Museum.
