What's going on at your local library?

Avon-Washington Township Public Library

— One County, One Book runs from 10:30 a.m. to noon today. This is a special event celebrating the 150th birthday of Indiana author Gene Stratton Porter. There will be birthday cake and punch. Barbara Morrow, author of Nature’s Storyteller: the Life of Gene Stratton-Porter, will be the speaker; she will bring copies of her book to sell and sign.

— Computer Savvy Seniors is 9 a.m. Aug. 23 and 30. Senior ages 55 and older can learn computer basics in a relaxed environment during this 10-week course. Cost is $75 for the series.

— Boogie Babies is 9:30 a.m. today for babies up to 15 months old and their adult caregivers. The program includes rhymes and songs.

— Messy Tots & Tykes: Rub-a-Dub is 10:30 a.m. today for tots ages 15 months to 3 ½ years and their adult caregivers. The program includes songs, rhymes, messy fun, and a sensory painting activity.

— Introduction to Powerpoint is 6 p.m. Aug. 19. Learn to make professional-looking presentations in just minutes by adding video, photographs and audio files to a PowerPoint presentation. Basic beginner skills are also included. Cost is $15.

— Author Visit: Ruth Ann Hanley will be at the library at 6 p.m. Aug. 20. Join Hanley as she talks about her book, No Pulling Back. Registration is requested.

— Round Table Readers is 6:30 p.m. Aug. 21. The group will be discussing Devils Trill, the first book in the Daniel Jacobus mystery series by Gerald Elias. Copies are available at the front desk for check out.

— Advanced Excel is 6 p.m. Aug. 21. Build on your spreadsheet skills with practice in pivot tables, filters, mail merges and look-up functions. Cost is $15.
